Stockbridge Music Hub announces French Week: Steven Osborne, Taylor Wilson, Zarathustra Trio and Alexander McCall Smith
Clea Friend at the Stockbridge Music Hub has just announced a French Week from 16th to 23rd March, featuring concerts by pianist, Steven Osborne, mezzo Taylor Wilson, and the young Parisian piano trio, Zarathustra. The week ends with a family concert in which Alexander McCall Smith reads his own narration to Saint-Saens’ ‘Carnival of the Animals.’ All events will take place in Stockbridge Parish Church.
The programme for the week is as follows:
Saturday 16th March, 6pm: Internationally renowned Scottish pianist, Steven Osborne, with Greg Lawson, Jean Johnson and Clea Friend, will play a programme of works by Debussy and Ravel.
Sunday 17th March, 7pm: A showing of Francois Truffaut’s 1959 masterpiece ‘Les Quatre Cent Coups’ which celebrates the tenderness and rebellion of coming of age. Watch the film screened in comfort with wine included in the ticket price!
Tuesday 19th March, 7pm: International chanteuse, Taylor Wilson with pianist/director, Karen McIvor, presents ‘Paris in a Glass,’ an evening of songs by Edith Piaf, Charles Tenet, Marlene Dietrich, Eartha Kitt and more, in an informal cabaret setting with wine.
Friday 23rd March, 6pm: Zarathustra Trio, a young Parisian ensemble, perform Ravel’s Piano Trio and works by Debussy and Faure.
Saturday 24th March, 3pm: Alexander McCall Smith reads his own narration to Saint-Saens’ ‘Carnival of the Animals.’ Lionel Friend will conduct a collaboration between local professional players and the Zarathustra Trio.

The popular free lunchtime concerts on the first Friday of the month continue with ‘Two Flutes,’ Scottish Chamber Orchestra flautists, Andre Cebrian and Marta Gomez, at 1pm on Friday 1st March, and Brass Tacks at 1pm on 5th April.
